Training

Ensuring our Educators are prepared is core to our mission. Educators who join the AFCC network all participate in our proprietary Benchmark Training program. This training is above and beyond the state requirements to have a family child care business. The trainings are held on weekends or in the evenings, so Educators are still running their businesses full-time while pursuing extra knowledge and expertise to enhance their child care business. A variety of topics covered during the 75 hour training include: licensing, interviewing parents, building relationships with parents, child growth and development, recordkeeping, business best practices, financial literacy, curriculum design, and more. In 2019, ten AFCC Educators, one assistant, and one potential educator completed the Benchmark Training.

In addition to Benchmark Training, Educators participate in four professional development days. All programs are closed those days to allow Educators the opportunity to build their skills. Acre Family also offers First Aid/CPR classes as needed, so Educators can stay up-to-date on other requirements.
